Why BookBuilt

Built by an operator. Engineered like software.

BookBuilt is a software company for independent insurance agencies. I started it at the desk, not in a lab, which is why the tools fit how agencies actually work.

The line I built the company around: the software stops here, for a licensed person to decide.

The origin

The work came first.

I built BookBuilt from inside the daily grind of an independent agency. The same data typed into one portal after another. Rates checked by hand under time pressure. Follow-up that slipped when the phones got busy. None of it needed judgment. All of it ate the day.

The fix was obvious and nobody was building it right. So I built it. I took the slow, repetitive desk work and handed it to software, then engineered that software the way good software should be built: tested, predictable, and careful about its limits.

We are a software company. That is the point. But because the work came first, I know where the line is. A machine should do the typing and the cross-checking. A licensed person should make every call. I built that line into the product instead of pretending it does not exist.

What we hold to

Four principles we will not bend.

These are not slogans. They decide what we build and what we refuse to build.

01

Software, not insurance

BookBuilt is a technology vendor. We never sell, quote, bind, or service insurance. Your licensed team does all of that.

02

A licensed person decides

Our software does the typing and the cross-checking, then stops. A licensed person reviews the result and makes every decision.

03

Built by an operator

BookBuilt was built from inside real agency desk work, then engineered like real software. It fits how agencies actually run.

04

Light on data

We design our tools to touch as little sensitive consumer data as possible, and only what the task in front of you requires.

I built BookBuilt from inside a New York insurance agency. I build like someone who knows the book, not just the code, because that is the desk I came from.
